A virtual ride on the Axminster to Lyme Regis Line.

Click on this video to take a trip on the famous old Axminster to Lyme Regis Line. You will ride on the loco as it weaves its way along the old route, enjoying the glorious scenery. You will pause a while at Combpyne Station and gasp as the train negotiates the incredible Cannington Viaduct before finally terminating high above the sea at Lyme Regis.

The line has, of course, long since closed but we are able to take you along it just as if you were there back in the day. Building on an incredible 25-minute railway simulation made by Golden Age Developments, we have added a commentary plus real memories from our own former fireman on the line, Terry Guppy. We have also added in a few gems of our own, with superb loco photos and even a walk through a bluebell woodland where trains used to run.

A great gift

There is no greater gift you can give than to create memories. Reviving old memories comes a close second - and we hope ‘Sentimental Journey’ will ‘ping’ a few. If you would like a copy for a loved one we can output them as DVDs for those who still have DVD players. We can also produce it as a USB memory stick in a presentation box for the recipient to play through computers or many televisions. Just let us know how you would like it via an email to fortheloveofarailway@gmail.com and we will do our best to respond.

Please donate if you can

Our aim is to offer as much as possible of what we do for free, especially to the young families and retired people who make up an important slice of our audience. If you do feel able to make a modest donation it would be much appreciated and would help us to cover our operating costs while extending what we do. Thank you.
